A.I.와 같은 현대 기술로 세상은 점점 더 발전하고 있지만 세상은 점점 어두워지고 있습니다. 현재 우크라이나와 팔레스타인 가자지구에서도 전쟁으로 인해 너무나 많은 사람들이 피를 흘리며 죽어가고 있습니다. 소망 없는 세상에 구세주 예수님을 보내주신 하나님을 찬양합니다! 우크라이나와 팔레스타인, 그리고 전 세계 고통받는 모든 이들에게 크리스마스의 기쁜 소식이 전해지기를 기도합니다. 특히 구원의 뿔이시며 돋는 해이신 예수님이 그들의 마음속에 임하시길 기도합니다.

사가랴를 생각해 봅시다. 사가랴는 누구였습니까? 사가랴는 늙은 제사장이었습니다. 그러나 그에게는 아이가 없었습니다. 그 당시에는 아이가 없다는 것이 부끄러운 일이었습니다. 그의 아내 엘리자베스는 불임이었습니다. 두 사람 모두 나이가 많았기 때문에 아이를 갖기를 희망하는 것이 점점 더 어려워졌습니다. 이런 상황에서 그들은 어떤 삶을 살았나요? 누가복음 1장 6절에 따르면 그와 그의 아내 엘리사벳은 하나님 앞에 의로운 자요 주의 모든 계명과 율례를 흠 없이 지켰습니다. 그들은 성경을 열심히 공부하고, 온 마음을 다해 희생적으로 하나님의 사역을 섬겼습니다. 사가랴는 로마 제국의 침공, 잔인한 이두메 왕 헤롯의 이스라엘 통치, 예루살렘 성전 내부의 부패를 목격했습니다. 절망의 시대에도 이 부부는 절망하지 않았고, 끈질기게 기도했습니다. 사가랴는 이스라엘의 구원과 아들을 주시기를 기도했습니다. “오 주님, 저에게 아들을 주십시오!” 하나님 보시기에 그는 어둠 속에서 빛나는 보석과 같았습니다. 하나님은 그의 기도에 응답하셔서 그의 천사를 그에게 보내셨습니다! 천사 가브리엘이 그에게 나타나 이렇게 말했습니다. “사가랴여, 무서워하지 말라. 너의 간구함이 들린지라. 네 아내 엘리사벳이 네게 아들을 낳아 주리니 그 이름을 요한이라 하라.” 사가랴에게는 좋은 소식이었습니다! 

그러나 사가랴는 당황하여 천사에게 “내가 이것을 어떻게 알리요 내가 늙고 아내도 나이가 많으니이다”라고 말했습니다(18). 그는 기도의 사람이었습니다. 그는 역사 속에서 하나님의 주권적인 통치를 믿었습니다. 그러나 그의 기도가 응답되었을 때 그는 너무 기뻐서 그것을 믿을 수 없었습니다. 그는 순간적으로 인간적인 생각에 빠져 하나님께는 불가능한 일이 없다는 사실을 망각했습니다. 그는 믿을 수 없다는 표정으로 말했다. 그는 큰 실수를 저질렀습니다!

그래서 하나님께서는 그에게 9개월 동안 불신의 말을 하지 말라고 벙어리 훈련을 주셨습니다. 사가랴는 9개월 동안 자신의 불신앙을 회개하고 하나님의 놀라운 약속을 생각하며 하나님의 훈련을 겸손히 받아들였습니다. 마침내 하나님의 약속이 완전히 이루어졌습니다. 하나님의 말씀에 순종하여 아들의 이름을 요한이라 지었을 때 그의 입이 열렸습니다. 그는 성령으로 충만하여 예언을 하기 시작했습니다.

68절을 보겠습니다. “찬송하리로다 주 이스라엘의 하나님이여 그 백성을 돌보사 속량하시며” 

사가랴는 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 자기 백성에게 임하심을 인하여 그를 찬양하였습니다. 하나님은 자기 백성이 불충하다고 버리지 않으셨습니다. 

69절을 보십시오. “우리를 위하여 구원의 뿔을 그 종 다윗의 집에 일으키셨으니”

성경에는 두 종류의 뿔이 있는데, 하나는 구원의 뿔이고, 다른 하나는 사탄의 뿔입니다. 구원의 뿔은 전능하신 하나님의 영광과 권능의 상징입니다. 사탄의 뿔은 죄와 사망 권세입니다. 하나님은 사탄의 뿔을 멸하기 위해 우리 구주 예수님을 구원의 뿔로 세우셨습니다.  

사람에게 구원이 필요한 때는 언제입니까? 여러분에게는 적이 있나요? 어떤 사람들은 경쟁자나 상사, 친척, 형제자매들이 적이라고 생각할 수도 있습니다. 사실 그들은 우리의 적이 아닙니다. 우리의 진짜 적은 사탄입니다. 그는 본성을 다해 우리를 미워하고 변화할 수 없기 때문에 우리의 진정한 적입니다. 사탄은 우리 안에 있는 하나님의 거룩한 형상을 파괴하고 우리를 어둠의 종으로 만들기 위해 모든 것을 다합니다.

스페인의 황소 달리기 축제 참가자들은 황소 뿔이 매우 치명적이라는 것을 알기 때문에 짜릿함을 느낍니다. 우리는 뿔이 없고 너무 연약합니다. 그러나 사탄은 10개의 뿔을 가지고 있습니다. 우리는 그를 파멸시킬 수도 없고 그에게서 숨을 수도 없습니다. // 어느 날 휴대전화에서 부도덕한 광고 하나를 받은 후에 저는 정욕에 사로잡혀 있는 나 자신을 발견했습니다. 거친 말 한 마디를 들었을 때 저는 수년간 증오의 포로가 되었습니다. 한두 가지 실수로 인해 제 자신이 너무 비참하고 절망적이라고 느낍니다. 그렇기 때문에 우리에게는 구원이 필요합니다. 이것이 바로 하나님께서 당신의 자비로우신 마음으로 우리에게 구원의 뿔을 보내주신 이유입니다. 예수 그리스도께서 십자가에서의 죽음과 부활을 통해 우리에게 사탄의 권세에 대한 완전하고 영원한 승리를 주셨습니다. 구원의 뿔은 사탄의 머리를 짓부셨습니다. 

74, 75절을 보십시오. “우리가 원수의 손에서 건지심을 받고 종신토록 주의 앞에서 성결과 의로 두려움이 없이 섬기게 하리라 하셨도다.”

하나님께서는 무엇 때문에 우리를 구원하시나요? “그분을 섬기기 위해서 입니다.” 우리가 구원받은 것은 이 세상에서 부하고 성공하기 위해서가 아닙니다. 유명해지고 세력을 얻기 위해서가 아닙니다.  “종신토록 주의 앞에서 성결과 의로 두려움이 없이 섬기도록” 하기 위함입니다. 그분을 섬기는 것이 우리 삶의 유일한 참된 목적입니다. 저는 우리 모두가 그러한 거룩한 삶을 살고 싶어한다고 믿습니다. 그러나 실제 생활에서는 매우 다양한 문제가 있습니다. 그리고 이러한 문제는 우리의 두려움을 야기합니다. 두려움은 우리 목에 걸린 강한 사슬과 같습니다. 두려움은 우리를 다른 타협과 죄로 이끕니다. 그러나 하나님께서 주시는 구원의 뿔은 우리가 두려움 없이 살 수 있도록 모든 두려움을 파괴합니다. 우리는 우리 아버지이신 하나님을 신뢰해야 합니다. 그 결과, 우리는 공부하고, 일하고 가족을 돌보는 등 모든일을 두려움없이 할 수 있습니다.

76-77절을 보겠습니다. “이 아이여 네가 지극히 높으신 이의 선지자라 일컬음을 받고 주 앞에 앞서 가서 그길을 준비하여 주의 백성에게 그 죄 사함으로 말미암는 구원을 알게 하리니”

하나님의 역사에서 사가랴의 아들의 역할은 그리스도의 길을 준비하는 것이었습니다. 그는 어떻게 준비했을까요? “자기 백성에게 그 죄 사함으로 말미암는 구원을 알게 하려 하리니”  참된 구원은 오직 예수 그리스도를 통한 우리의 죄 용서를 통해서만 옵니다. 이 지식을 사람들의 마음 속에 심어 주는 것이 세례 요한의 주된 사명이었습니다. 

78-79절을 다같이 읽겠습니다. “이는 우리 하나님의 긍휼로 인함이라 이로써 돋는해가 위로부터 우리에게 임하여 어둠과 죽음의 그늘에 앉은 자에게 비치고 우리 발을 평강의길로 인도하시리로다 하니라.”

우리는 전도서를 공부했을 때 “해 아래서”라는 말을 여러 번 들었습니다. 그리고 우리는 해 아래 우리 세상이 얼마나 어둠과 죽음의 그림자로 가득 차 있는지를 이해하는 지혜를 배웠습니다. 우리는 전도자의 말을 따라했습니다: “헛되고 헛되니 모든 것이 헛되도다.” 그러나 사가랴는 매우 다른 해, 즉 돋는 해(Rising Sun)에 대해 선포합니다. 그토록 많은 에너지를 갖고 있는 우리 태양은 단지 그분의 작은 창조물일 뿐입니다. 그분 자신의 빛은 얼마나 더 크십니까? 그러나 가장 놀라운 것은 이 영원히 돋는 해가 하늘에서 우리에게 왔다는 것입니다. 하늘에서 내려온 이 해가 예수 그리스도이십니다. 예수 그리스도의 하늘 빛은 너무나 밝아서 어떤 곳도 어둠 속에 남아 있을 수 없습니다. 예수님은 떠오르는 태양이십니다. 왜냐하면 그 분은 죄 용서를 통해 우리 삶에 새 아침, 새 시대를 가져오시기 때문입니다. 그분의 빛 안에서 우리의 삶은 변화한 사가랴처럼 의미 있고, 기쁘고, 하늘의 빛으로 가득 차게 됩니다. 그분은 오늘 우리에게 빛을 비추시고, 우리의 미래 길도 밝혀 주십니다. 그분은 우리를 하나님의 나라로 인도하고 계십니다. 예수 그리스도는 베들레헴에서 태어나 하나님 나라를 전파하시고 십자가에 죽으시고 부활하셨습니다. 그분은 우리 각자를 위한 영원한 빛의 근원이 되기 위해 하늘로 올라가셨습니다. 돋는 해되신 예수 그리스도께서 하늘의 빛으로 여러분의 삶을 밝혀 주시기를 기도합니다.

우크라이나에 있었던 지난 몇 년 동안 저의 심령은 점점 더 어두워졌습니다. 제 몸에 질병이 하나씩 나타났습니다. 학생들은 더 이상 성경공부에 관심이 없었습니다. 매달 우리는 러시아의 새로운 기만적인 공격에 관한 소식을 듣고 있었습니다. 저는 이 세상의 점점 커지는 무관심, 이기심, 물질주의, 부패를 보고 점점 더 절망스러워졌습니다. 저는 아무것도 바꿀 희망이 없다고 생각했습니다. 저는 더 이상 내 삶에 대해 비전을 가지지 못했습니다. 저는 하나님이 아무것도 하지 않으신다는 생각에 믿음을 잃고 강물에 빠진 죽은 물고기가 되었습니다. 

그러나 처음에는 코로나를 통해, 그 다음에는 전쟁을 통해 하나님은 모든 상황을 빨리 역전시키셨습니다. 하나님께서는 하나씩 하나씩 저에게 그분의 역사를 보여 주셨습니다. 먼저, 저희는 필사적으로 하나님께 기도했더니 하나님께서 저희의 기도에 응답하셔서 이미 코로나19로 인해 혼수상태에 빠져 있던 어머니를 죽음에서 구해 주셨습니다.

하나님께서는 여러 가지 기적을 통해 저희 가족을 우크라이나에서 인도하여 한국으로 데려가셨습니다. 저는 얼마나 많은 사람들이 우리 가족을 위해 기도하고 있는지 알게 되었습니다. 하나님은 처음에는 김느헤미야 목자님, 그 다음에는 오파블로 목자님과의 성경공부를 통해 살아 있는 말씀으로 저를 살리셨습니다. 그리고 이창무목자님의 심오한 메세지를 통해 저를 살리셨습니다. 특히 안암 UBF 목자들의 희생적인 섬김을 통해 위로와 치유를 받았습니다. 그동안 우리 가족은 정말 많은 사랑과 섬김을 받았습니다. 어떤 목자님들은 우리가 넓은 아파트에서 따뜻하게 살도록, 매일 먹고, 공부하고, 따뜻한 샤워를 할 수 있도록 열심히 희생적으로 일합니다. 또 하나님께서는 저와 제 아내가 중요한 수술을 받을 수 있도록 축복하셨습니다. 그리고 하나님은 이 안암 UBF 교회가 한국과 해외의 많은 사람들을 여러 방식으로, 그러나 같은 마음으로 섬기는 것을 보여 주셨습니다. 하나님은 특히 안암 UBF 교회를 통해 열심히 일하고 계십니다. 이 모든 일을 통해 하나님께서는 제 마음을 빛으로 채워 주시고 모든 어둠과 절망을 쫓아내시고 상처받은 마음을 치료해 주셨습니다. 저는 오데사와 전 세계에서 하나님의 역사를 바라보기 시작했습니다. 

하나님께서는 이 놀랍고도 밝고 다양하고 따뜻한 예수 그리스도의 빛을 안암 UBF교회를 통해 하늘에서 떠오르는 태양의 빛으로 저를 채워 주셨습니다. 이 욱일승천의 빛을 마음속에 품고서 나는 모든 것을 할 수 있었습니다. 저는 온라인으로 회사일을 하고 있는데 몇 달 전에 과장으로 승진했습니다. 저는 오데사의 앤드류형제와 온라인으로 1:1하고 딸 Liza와 성경을 공부하고 있습니다. 저는 온라인으로 신학교에서 공부하고 좋은 책도 읽을 수 있었습니다. 아이들의 학교 공부를 돕고 가족 모임을 갖고 있습니다. 또 8주에 한번씩 오뎃사UBF 동역자들을 위한 주일 메시지를 준비합니다. 매주 토요일 저는 이요한 선교사님이 인도하시는 오뎃사 온라인 그룹성경공부에 참여하고 있습니다. 이제 저희 가족은 내년 봄에 우크라이나로 돌아가 우크라이나 학생들과 이 빛을 나누기를 기도하고 있습니다. 전쟁이 끝나고 저희가 돌아갈 수 있는 길이 열리도록 기도해 주시기 바랍니다. 앞으로도 계속 하나님께서 안암 UBF 교회를 귀하게 사용하시고, 저희 가정도 사용하셔서 예수 그리스도의 빛이 많은 학생들을 비추고 그들에게 예수 그리스도 안에 있는 희망과 비전을 줄 수 있기를 기도합니다. 아멘!

Merry Christmas! 

I am very happy to celebrate Christmas with you in Korea. Moreover, I am honored to deliver the Christmas message before you. 

Modern technology such as A.I. is becoming more and more advanced, but the world is becoming increasingly darker. Currently so many people are bleeding to death due to the war in Ukraine as well as in Gaza of Palestine.  I praise God for sending the Savior Jesus to this hopeless world. I pray that the good news of Christmas may be delivered to Ukraine, Palestine, and all suffering people around the world. In particular, I pray that Jesus, the horn of salvation and the rising sun, will come into their hearts.

Let’s think about Zachariah. Who was Zachariah? Zachariah was an old priest. But he had no child. At that time, it was a shame to have no children. His wife Elizabeth was barren. It was becoming more difficult to hope to have child because they were old. What kind of life did they live in this situation?

According to Luke 1:6, he and his wife Elizabeth were righteous in the sight of God, observing all the Lord's commands and decrees blamelessly. They studied the Bible diligently and served God's ministry sacrificially with all their heart. // Zachariah witnessed the invasion of Roman Empire, the rule of the bloody Idumean King Herod over Israel, and the corruption inside the Temple of Jerusalem. In the hopeless time, they did not despair but continued to pray persistently. He prayed for salvation of Israel and for a son to be given. “Oh, Lord, give me a son!” In God's sight, he was like a jewel shining in the darkness. God answered his prayer, sending his angel to him! The angel Gabriel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John.” It was a good news for Zachariah!

However, in his embarrassment, Zechariah said to the angel, "How can I be sure of this? I am an old man and my wife is well along in years" (18). He was a man of prayer. He had faith in God's sovereign rule in history. But when his prayer was answered, he was too happy to believe it. Momentarily, he fell into human thinking, forgetting that nothing is impossible with God. He spoke in disbelief. He made a big mistake!

So God gave him dumb training - training not to speak unbelieving words for nine months. For nine months, Zachariah repented of his unbelief and accepted God's training humbly. He thought of God's amazing promise. Finally, the promise of God was completely fulfilled. When he obeyed God’s word and named his son John, his mouth opened. He was filled with the Holy Spirit and began to prophesize.

Let’s look on verse 68:

68 "Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has come to his people and redeemed them.

Zachariah praised the Lord, the God of Israel, because He has come to His people. God never gave up his people though they were unfaithful. 

Let’s read the verse 69. (prease)

69 He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David

In the Bible, there are two kinds of horns: one is the horn of salvation, and the other, the horn of Satan. The horn of salvation is the symbol of the glory and power of God Almighty. The horn of Satan is the power of sin and death. God raised up our Savior Jesus, the true horn of salvation in order to destroy the horn of Satan.

When do we need salvation? - Do you have any enemies? Some might think of competitors or bosses, in-laws, or siblings. Actually, they are not our enemies. There is one real enemy – Satan. He is our true enemy because he hates us with all his nature and he cannot change. Satan makes everything to destroy God’s holy image in us and to make us slaves of darkness.

Satan is our true enemy. But the bigger problem is that we are too weak before Satan. Spanish Corrida gives people so much emotion because they understand that the bull’s horns are so dangerous and even fatal. We do not have horns and we are so fragile. However, Satan has 10 horns. We cannot destroy him nor hide from him. // One day I received a single immoral ad on my phone, and I find myself enslaved to lust. When I heard one harsh word I became a captive of hatred for years. Due to just one or two mistakes, I see myself so miserable and hopeless. That is why we need salvation. This is why God, in his tender mercy, has sent us the Horn of Salvation. Jesus Christ, through his death on the cross and resurrections, grants us full and eternal victory over the power of Satan. The Horn of Salvation crushed Satan’s head.

Look at verses 74, 75.

74 to rescue us from the hand of our enemies, and to enable us to serve him without fear

75 in holiness and righteousness, before him all our days.

For what does God rescue us? – To serve Him. – We are saved not to become rich and successful in this world, not to become famous and powerful, but “to serve Him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before Him all our days”. “To serve Him” is our only true purpose of life. I believe that every one of us wants to live such a holy life. However, the real life has so many different problems. And these problems cause our fears. Fear is like strong chain on our neck. Fears lead us to different compromises and sin. But the Horn of Salvation from God destroys any fear so that we can live without fear. As a result, we can do everything without fear, studying, working, doing family care and other daily routine.

Let’s look on verses 76-77.

76 And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him,

77 to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins,

The role of the son of Zachariah in God’s history was to prepare the way for the Christ. How would he prepare? “to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins”. The true salvation comes solely through the forgiveness of our sins through Jesus Christ. To put this knowledge into people's hearts was the main mission for John the Baptist.

Let’s read verses 78-79. (please)

78 because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven

79 to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace."

The heavenly light of Jesus Christ is so bright that there cannot be any place left in darkness. He is the Rising Sun, because thru forgiveness of sins, He brings new morning, new era into our life. In His light, our life becomes meaningful, joyful and filled with heavenly light. He lights us Today, and he lights our Future path. He is leading us to the Kingdom of God. Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem, he preached the Kingdom of God, He died on the cross and rose from the dead. He ascended into heavens to be the eternal source of light for each one of us. I pray that the Rising Sun Jesus Christ light-up your life with His heavenly light.

(Testimony)

During my last few years in Ukraine, I became more and more dark. One by one illness appeared in my body. Students were not interested in the Bible Study anymore. Every month we were hearing about new deceptive attacks by Russia. I saw the increasing indifference, selfishness, materialism and corruption of this world and became more and more desperate. I thought that there was no hope of changing anything. I stopped looking at my life with a vision. I lost my faith in God, thinking that He is doing nothing and I became like a dead fish in the river.

However, first through COVID and then through the War, God overturned everything very quickly. One by one, God showed me His work. First, in 2021 we desperately prayed to God so God answered our prayer and saved my mother from death, when she was already in hopeless state in coma due to COVID. When the war began, through various miracles, God had taken our family out of Ukraine and brought us to Korea. I found out how many people were praying for our family. Here God revived me with the living word through Bible studies with sh. Nehemiah Kim and then with sh. Paul Oh, and through the profound sermons of sh. Chang Moo Lee. Especially I received comfort and healing through the sacrificial serving of the shepherds of Anam UBF. Our family has received so much love and service during this time. Some shepherds work hard and sacrifice to give us the opportunity to live in a large apartment, in warmth, eat every day, study, and even have comfort shower. God blessed me and my wife to have important surgeries. Also God showed me that Anam UBF serves so many people in Korea and abroad in different ways but with the same heart. God is working hard, particularly in and through Anam UBF Church. Through all this, God filled my heart with light, driving out all darkness and despair, and healed my wounded heart. I started to see the work of God in Odessa and all over the world. God used this amazing bright, warm light of Jesus Christ through Anam UBF Church to fill me with the light of the Rising Sun from heaven.

With this light of the Rising Sun in my heart, I was able to do everything. I am working for a company online and few months ago I was promoted to the position of head of department. I am studying bible online with brother Andrew from Odessa and my daughter Liza. I was able to study in the seminary online and to read some good books. I am helping my children in school studies and hold family meetings. I prepare Sunday message for Odessa UBF once every 8 weeks. Every Saturday I am participating in common Odessa UBF online Bible Study with msn. John Lee. Now we pray to return to Ukraine next spring to share this light with Ukrainian students. I ask you to pray for the end of the war and for opening the way for us to return to Odessa.

I pray for God to continue to use Anam UBF Church preciously and also use our family so that the light of Jesus Christ illuminates many students and gives them hope and vision in Jesus Christ. Amen!
