영어성경읽기 - GENESIS 7, 8
 앞의 Genesis chapter 6부터 chapter 9까지는 '하나님과 동행한 사람' Noah를 주인공으로 대 홍수 이야기가 펼쳐지지요? 오늘은 7, 8장을 죽 훑어보며 하나님의 경고대로 실현된 대홍수 심판과 방주를 통한 구원의 역사를 살펴보겠습니다. GENESIS 7 7:1. The LORD then said to Noah, "Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation. 7:2. Take with you seven of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and two of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, 7:3. and also seven of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth. * 어떤 동물들이 노아의 방주에 올랐는지, 노래를 들어보세요. ^^; * alive는 서술적으로만 (주어가 살아있다) 쓰입니다. 'Noah took every alive creatures'라고 쓰면 틀리다는 얘기죠. '살아있는 주어'를 말하려면 living을 써야 합니다. (수능시험에 나왔다는군요 ^^*) asleep, alike, alone, afraid, awake 등 a-로 시작하는 형용사들은 서술적으로만 쓰입니다. 어떤 특성을 명시함으로써 대상을 '한정'지어주느냐(죽은 것 말고 살아있는 생물체), 아니면 이미 정해진 특정 주어의 하고 많은 특성들 중 관심있는 것을 언급하느냐 (많은 종족이 멸종되지 않고 생존하도록) 하는 수식어의 용도를 잘 구별해두세요. 7:4. Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made." 7:5. And Noah did all that the LORD commanded him. 7:11.In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, on the seventeenth day of the second month - on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened. * Gen 1:6.And God said, "Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water." * Job 26: 7.He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing. 8.He wraps up the waters in his clouds, yet the clouds do not burst under their weight. 그는 북편 하늘을 허공에 펴시며 땅을 공간에 다시며 구물을 빽빽한 구름에 싸시나 그 밑의 구름이 찢어지지 아니하느니라 7:17.For forty days the flood kept coming on the earth, and as the waters increased they lifted the ark high above the earth. 7:18.The waters rose and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water. 7:19.They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered. 7:21.Every living thing that moved on the earth perished - birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind. * perish : 죽다,멸망하다,썩어 없어지다 * swarm : 떼를 이루다, 들끓다 7:22.Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died. * nostils : 콧구멍, 콧방울 * the breath of life the nostrils : 생명(력), 활력, 꼭 필요한 것 7:23b.Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark. 7:24.The waters flooded the earth for a hundred and fifty days. GENESIS 8 8:1.But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded. * recede : 움츠러지다, 감퇴[감소]하다;<가치·품질 등이> 떨어지다, 나빠지다 8:3.The water receded steadily from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days the water had gone down, 8:4.and on the seventeenth day of the seventh month the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. 8:6.After forty days Noah opened the window he had made in the ark 8:7.and sent out a raven, and it kept flying back and forth until the water had dried up from the earth. 8:8.Then he sent out a dove to see if the water had receded from the surface of the ground. 8:10.He waited seven more days and again sent out the dove from the ark. 8:11a.When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! 8:13.By the first day of the first month of Noah's six hundred and first year, the water had dried up from the earth. Noah then removed the covering from the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was dry. 8:15.Then God said to Noah, 8:16."Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives. 8:17.Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you... so they can multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in number upon it." 8:20.Then Noah built an altar to the LORD and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it. 8:21.The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: "Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done. 8:22."As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease."
