GENESIS Chapter 10

노아의 후손과 계보

10장에서는 홍수 후에 노아의 세 아들 셈, 함, 야벳으로부터 갈라져 나온 자손들이 
땅의 열국 백성으로 나뉘는 장면이 나옵니다. 

1.This is the account of Shem, Ham and Japheth, Noah's sons, 
who themselves had sons after the flood.

[The Japhethites]
2.The sons of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech and Tiras.
5.From these the maritime peoples spread out into their territories 
  by their clans within their nations, each with its own language.
* maritime : 바다 가까이 사는

[The Hamites]
6.The sons of Ham: Cush, Mizraim, Put and Canaan.
15.Canaan was the father of Sidon his firstborn, and of the Hittites,
16.Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites,
17.Hivites, Arkites, Sinites,
18.Arvadites, Zemarites and Hamathites. Later the Canaanite clans scattered
19.and the borders of Canaan reached from Sidon toward Gerar 
  as far as Gaza, and then toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha.

[The Semites]
21.Sons were also born to Shem, whose older brother was Japheth; 
  Shem was the ancestor of all the sons of Eber.
22.The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud and Aram.

32.These are the clans of Noah's sons, according to their lines of descent, within their nations. 
From these the nations spread out over the earth after the flood.


GENESIS Chapter 11

11장에도 비슷한 족보 얘기가 나오는데요. 
여기서는 특히 Adam - Seth - Noah - Shem 으로 이어지는 구속사의 주인공들의 계보가 자세히 언급됩니다. 
'몇 살 때 누구를 낳고 몇 년을 더 살며 아들 딸들을 낳았다'는 구조가 반복되고 있습니다. 

10.This is the account of Shem. Two years after the flood, 
  when Shem was 100 years old, he became the father of Arphaxad. 
11.And after he became the father of Arphaxad, 
  Shem lived 500 years and had other sons and daughters.

* 셈에서 아브라함까지의 계보를 간략하게 보면 다음과 같습니다. 
  Shem - Arphaxad - Eber - Peleg - Reu - Serug - Nahor - Terah - Abram, Nahor and Haran.
  Eber : '건너온 자'. '이브르' --> '히브리'. 유브라데 강 건너편에서 가나안으로 건너온 아브라함의 조상. 
  Peleg: '나뉜다'. 벨렉 시대에 바벨탑 사건으로 인해 언어가 나뉨. 


바벨탑 사건

11장에는 니므롯 왕조를 중심으로 하나님을 대항하여 견고하고 높은 탑을 쌓은 사건이 나옵니다. 
자신들의 이름을 내고자, 하나님의 징계의 손길도 인간의 힘으로 막아보고자 했지만
긍휼의 하나님은 오히려 이를 통해 세계 역사를 전개하시고 구속사를 이룰 민족들을 형성하십니다. 
언어가 나뉘고 서로를 이해할 수 없게 되면서 시작된 분열의 역사...
현재의 글로벌 시대에 가장 필요한 것, 막대한 자금을 동원하여 연구하고 투자되는 것 중에 하나가
바로 의사소통을 위한 것, 서로의 아이디어를 통합하고 one mind가 되기 위한 메커니즘들인 것을 생각하면
... 참 재미있지 않나요?
역으로 사도행전에서처럼 방언의 은사 등으로 다시 말이 통하고 복음을 전할 수 있다면, 
한 마음과 한 뜻으로, 많은 이들이 합심하여 하나님의 뜻을 이루기 위해 뭉친다면 참 좋겠지요.

1.Now the whole world had one language and a common speech.
4.Then they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, 
  so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth."

6.The LORD said, "If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, 
 * 의역하자면 '같은 언어를 쓰는 한 족속으로(서) 이 일을 시작했으니 ... '
  then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.
 * then nothing (that) they plan to do~ 요만큼이 주어, 동사부는 will be. 
7.Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other."
8.So the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city.
9.That is why it was called Babel
 - because there the LORD confused the language of the whole world. 
 From there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole earth.
