창세기 9장에는 홍수 이후의 기사가 나옵니다. 
무지개 언약, 그리고 노아의 세 아들 셈, 함, 야벳을 통해 민족들이 갈라져 나오는 이야기이죠. 


하나님의 축복 - 새 생명의 생산 및 동물계에 대한 통치권

1.Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, 
  "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth. 
2.The fear and dread of you will fall upon all the beasts of the earth
  and all the birds of the air, upon every creature that moves along the ground, 
  and upon all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hands. 

육식은 허용하시되 생명의 주권은 주님께 두심. 

3.Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. 
  Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. 
4.But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it. 
6.Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; 
  for in the image of God has God made man. 
 * If anyone sheds the blood of man, his blood shall be shed by man 


무지개 언약 

11.I establish my covenant with you: 
  Never again will all life be cut off by the waters of a flood; 
  never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth." 
13.I have set my rainbow in the clouds, 
  and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 
14.Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 
15.I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. 
  Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 

* 예수님의 보혈, 우리의 무지개 (마26:27,28)
  Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying,
  "Drink from it, all of you. 
  This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. 

세 아들들에 대한 축복과 저주  

18.The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth. 
  (Ham was the father of Canaan.) 
19.These were the three sons of Noah, and from them 
  came the people who were scattered over the earth. 

25."Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves will he be to his brothers." 
26.He also said, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Shem! 
  May Canaan be the slave of Shem. 
27.May God extend the territory of Japheth; 
  may Japheth live in the tents of Shem, and may Canaan be his slave." 

* 함의 아들 가나안이 받은 저주는 역사 속에 그대로 성취되어 
  여호수아 시대와 솔로몬 시대를 통해 셈족인 이스라엘인들에 의해 가나안 족속이 정복당하고
  그 후 가나안족들의 원래 거주지의 일부인 베니게 지역은 
  야벳 족속인 페르시아인들과 미게도냐인들, 로마인 등에 의해 철저히 정복당했다고 합니다. 

* 한편 셈족의 후예라는 이스라엘의 독불장군식 선민 사상은 이웃나라들의 시기와 비웃음을 사
  Anti-Shemism 이라는 정서를 낳았습니다. 

  하나님의 선민이라면서 자신들에게 찾아오신 메시야도 몰라보고 십자가에 못박은 바보들...
  긍휼도 은혜도 없이, 철저한 율법주의에 갇혀 눈에는 눈, 이에는 이 식으로 살며
  악착같이 잘도 모으는 얄미운 존재들...
  [베니스의 상인]에 등장하는 피도 눈물도 없는 샤일록에서 볼 수 있는 이미지가 
  매우 전형적인 유태인 상이라 할 수 있습니다. 

  특히 기독교가 번성한 국가들에서 셈족의 후예 이스라엘이 당한 수모는 이루 말할 수 없죠. 
  기독교가 세를 확장하면서부터 마틴루터의 종교개혁 이전까지는 
  너무도 공공연하게, 당연스레 셈족은 경멸과 조롱과 생명의 위협을 당해왔던 것입니다. 
  히틀러의 유태인 학살도 이런 Anti-Shemism을 배경으로 가능했을 것입니다.

  그럼에도 불구하고 1948년 독립되기까지 근 2천년간 나라없는 디아스포라로
  상업, 의술 등 여러 전문 분야에서 탁월함을 발휘하였고 지금까지도 건재하니...
  그 비결은 어떤 악조건 속에서도 철저한 신앙교육을 시키며
  이스라엘 민족을 회복시켜주실 하나님의 약속을 믿는 신앙심에 있었다고 합니다. 
  오, 놀라워라. 하나님을 믿는 믿음의 힘이여.
