We praise and thank God for the great year. In response to that, we would like to reflect God¡¯s wonderful works and blessings upon our humble Alberta ministry throughout 2007 through this report. In the beginning of 2007, God helped us choose John 21:17 as our annual key verse. In fact, John 21:17 was our annual key verse for 2006 too. We chose the same verse once again in order to reiterate our focus on feeding Jesus¡¯ sheep and grow our 1 to 1 ministry. It was also our expression of repentance to God that we had not loved Jesus enough and not put enough effort for 1 to 1 during 2006. With that in mind, we prayed that we would be able to feed Jesus¡¯ hungry sheep in University of Alberta. We started with the students that attended our Christmas Worship Service in 2006. One of them was Fred Hu, 2nd year Genetics major. We contacted him and invited him again. Then God heard our humble prayer and led him to start attending our SWS regularly. He was very sincere and faithful. He never missed a single worship service since then. He even cooked and brought various kinds of food for us every week. He was even willing to attend Canadian Summer Bible Conference. Right before the conference, God helped M. David Chang to establish faithful 1 to 1 with him. Before the conference, they started 1 to 1 BS just to prepare for the conference. After coming back from the conference, God helped them officially start Genesis One to One BS. Since then Fred was faithful to the BS throughout the year. He was always well prepared and understood the passage very well. We thank God for brother Fred. Pray that God may continue to bless M. David¡¯s Genesis 1 to 1 this new year 2008 as well, so that brother Fred may continue to grow as a man of God and a great ancestor of faith like Abraham and Isaac. During 2007, M. Noah Chang also studied Genesis 1 to 1 with a student named David Joo. He was Korean university student who came to Canada to learn English. He was a Pastor¡¯s son and had spiritual desire to study the Bible. He liked English Genesis Bible study with M. Noah very much. Although he had to quit BS, we thank God that God used M. Noah preciously and we pray that God may continue to help him to be an excellent English Bible teacher for Jesus¡¯ sheep. In 2007, M. Grace Chang studied the Bible with sister Adrianne Mahoney (education major). She was very faithful to BS and SWS. She played the Clarinet every week at our WS. Although she had to move to Australia on September, we miss her very much and continue to pray for her spiritual growth. M. Deborah helped sister Alexandra (2nd year music major) and Katy Campbell (1st year psychology major). Alexandra is Deborah¡¯s classmate and Katy is Alexandra¡¯s sister. Deborah invited Alexandra to attend Latin American Int¡¯l summer Bible conference in Mexico and she attended the conference as Alberta UBF member. After coming back, she stayed with our family in our house for two weeks since her home was few hours away from school. M. Grace helped her and prayed for her with all her heart while she was staying with us. Alexandra then invited her sister Katy to our SWS. At times, their parents visited us and attended our SWS too. We sincerely pray that God may open Alexandra and Katy¡¯s hearts to study the Bible and they may grow as beautiful women of faith. Also, God may use M. Grace and Deborah preciously as excellent Bible teachers. In summer 2007, God blessed us to attend two Bible conferences in one summer. We attended Canadian SBC held in Kingston, Ontario and Latin American Int¡¯l SBC held in Mexico. Both conferences were great. At the Canadian SBC, our souls and hearts were ¡®revived¡¯ and Jesus quenched our spiritual thirst with His living water. It was the first time for brother Fred to attend the Bible Conference in his life but God led him to participate in the mini orchestra as a Saxophone player and perform. And God moved him through messages and life testimonies. So after coming back from the conference, he even wrote his first life testimony based on Luke 23:34 about forgiveness. At the conference, God used M. David as a presider and a mini orchestra member. God also used M. Deborah¡¯s musical talent preciously and let her serve special music twice. We thanked God for the opportunity to serve Him at the conference. Especially through this conference, we thanked God for helping us see the hope of Canadian mission, especially for western Canada. Pray that God may revive Canada as a KPHN! Shortly after we came back from Canadian SBC, M. Grace, David and Deborah left for Mexico to attend Latin American Int¡¯l SBC. As the title of the conference, Jesus, the Good Shepherd, suggests, we could meet Jesus, our good shepherd working in our lives and working for many people¡¯s lives in Latin American countries. It was great to see God¡¯s passionate mission work going on in Latin America. We could clearly see Jesus¡¯ shepherd heart and the power of His forgiveness and salvation. Thank God. From the fall semester, M. David became a student at U of A as God blessed him to get into Alberta MBA program with a scholarship. God opened the door for him this way to be closer to U of A campus students and serve them better. Praise God. On December 16th, God blessed our Christmas WS abundantly with Luke 2 message. God brought Fred Hu, Alexandra Campbell and Eric Hamilton, M. David¡¯s classmate. God also brought precious coworkers from Calgary UBF. Thank and praise God for granting us great time of fellowship in baby Jesus, our Saviour. We thank God that, throughout the year, God helped us build good spiritual relationship with Calgary UBF (M. Matthew & Ruth Jun). For Easter, Calgary UBF members visited our house church for the first time and God blessed our joint Easter WS and fellowship. For thanksgiving, God granted us to visit Calgary UBF house church and have joyful Thanksgiving WS together. For Christmas, again Calgary coworkers came to our ministry and had joint worship service. Thank God for helping us establish good spiritual coworking relationship together. Pray that God may continue to bless our coworking to serve God¡¯s mission better for Alberta & western Canada. Certainly, 2007 was a special year for all members of Alberta UBF. God blessed our ministry. Especially God blessed our Mark's Gospel study throughout the year and used M Noah as a precious and powerful messanger of Mark's Gospel words. As we look back on the year 2007, however, we could see that our biggest problem was worrying too much. We worry too much and easily get distracted by our fear and anxiety. So, for 2008, God granted us Matthew 6:33. ¡°But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.¡± God has brought us this far. God will continue to lead and bless us if we seek Him and serve His mission first. There is nothing to worry about. Without worry and fear, we should invite students and teach them the Bible. God is telling us that this year is going to be great. The new semesters at U of A and Purdue Int¡¯l BC in summer, and many other awesome things God would make happen in 2008. Thank God for blessing our humble house church, although we become easily fearful and pessimistic. Pray that God may help us overcome worries and doubts and seek Him and do His works by faith throughout 2008. God may double our ministry and raise up 12 1 to 1s and 20 SWS attendees this year. Amen! OW: Seek Him first and Serve His mission first God will take care of the rest! |
